Step Up Parents Receives $5,000 Donation from the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction

On Friday, March 11, 2024 the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction hosted a luncheon at the Huot Career and Technical Center in Laconia to honor nonprofits serving children and families throughout the region. Step Up Parents (SUP) was thrilled to be presented with a donation in the amount of $5,000 which will be used to provide critical financial assistance and other support to kinship caregiver families caring for children whose parents suffer from substance use disorder (SUD).

The Greater Lakes Region Children's Auction falls under the umbrella of the Greater Lakes Region Charitable Foundation for Children, a nonprofit organization that helps local community organizations that serve children and families in need. Numerous fundraising events in the Lakes Region throughout the year support the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction, including a four-day signature event every December.

“We are so thankful for this very generous show of support from the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction,” said Jessica Parker, Step Up Parents Executive Director. “The donation was made even more special as the luncheon provided a wonderful opportunity for nonprofits to connect with each other and with the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction board. We are beyond grateful for the funding, and truly appreciate the opportunity to speak to others who can help kinship families in need find Step Up Parents.”

Since launching in 2019, SUP has given over $300,000 in direct assistance to 564 families, helping bring stability and hope to nearly 1,000 “kinship kids.” Year-over-year, the need for assistance from SUP has grown. In fact, in 2023, SUP helped 176 families with 305 children.
